Week 4: I Heart You!

So our favourite time of the year is here. No I'm not talking about the impending Valentine's Day... It's midterm season! In my typical type A personality I have made a study schedule. I'm hoping this will allow me time to still keep up with the crafting. However, I am not very hopeful as I finished my week 4 card at 11:00pm on Sunday night.

I loved the "CAS(E) this sketch" challenge last week so I decided to do it again. Clean and simple lends itself well to my severe lack of time.

I tried out a new font from Ella Claire. It wouldn't work in Microsoft Word but it works in Pages for MAC. So many great alternatives for fonts to craft with.

I love the mixing of the pink and red colours. The two patterns are a great juxtaposition to the white background. The stamp is by Red Rubber Designs. Perhaps I will give this to my Valentine!

Week 3: Hip to be Square

Wow, 3 consistent weeks! I am so proud of myself. I must say that I am getting use to my weekly card making appointment. I look forward to challenges, and trying new ideas. Its really nice to have a relaxing hobby that does not involve exercise and is still productive. I use to have a really hard time justifying relaxation time. However, I have found that crafting helps to relieve stress but I don't feel it is "wasted" time (as I do when I do other things).

This weeks card was inspired by a sketch by CAS(E) this sketch! What a great way to highlight some of the smaller stamp that you have, use up old scraps of paper, or leftover die cuts from other projects. The design is simple but makes such a big impact. LOVE IT!

Week 2: I'm Folding Under the the Pressure

Here is a novel idea for you: I made my card a day ahead of my personal deadline. Felt so good! I got this idea off Pinterest and was led to the great tutorial on Inkspired Treasures

Folded Christmas Trees
1. You will need double sided paper.

2. Download the template off the Inkspired Treasures blog post. You can see the template below. She posted two different sizes of circles so they will create different sized trees.

3. Cut out the circle. Cut the circle is half. Score the paper along the score lines. I used the bone folder out of my Cricut Tool Kit.

4. Fold along the score lines, making sure to fold back and forth. Secure with some sort of double sided adhesive.

  • I really wanted to do the message with white embossing powder but I don't own embossing powder or a heat gun. Its on my craft wish list. Hopefully at the end of this month if there is money left in the budget I can do some craft shopping.
  • I think it would be beautiful to add some strategic glitter to the trees. I haven't really played with glitter so I wanted to wait and do more research before I go messing around with it (Type A much!).

Week 1: By the skin of my teeth

Wasn't sure if I would actually make the Sunday 11:59pm deadline today! I am normally in bed asleep by now so I may regret this post tomorrow morning. I think this goal may be a little bit more difficult than I considered. Any encouragement you have is appreciated...

Tonight I received a free coat from a friend of my mom. It's so cute! I'm in love. I thought a nice card in the mail would be best. I love this card considering I threw it together half asleep.
